About the Event
You may have grown up with Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella, but do you know the oral versions of the stories, that were likely told by women to their communities around fires whilst spinning, kneading bread and working ?
Join me for Mara Pepelashka, a Bulgarian Cinderella story which explores the grief and loss of growing up of a girl into a woman. This is no Disney version, here there is complexity, wonder, injustice, and fierceness.
Does Little Red Riding Hood wear a red cloak? Or is the cloak representative of blood? Join me to listen to a French coming of age story, where a girl does not need to be rescued by a hunter as she is more than capable of that herself. A story that explores the life of a woman from puberty to menopause through symbolism and hidden wisdom in plain sight.
Tatterhood is a wild…
