About the Event

Details:

A 3 hour walk (approx) in the Beautiful Hopeman seaside.

Difficulty: The walk will be gentle, and will be about 4km (2.5 miles). There will be some uphill and downhill walking. There is a slightly steper part at the beginning and the end. The total ascent and descent will be about 130 m.

  • We will take some time to take in the surroundings, sit and lay on the sandy beach with views of the sea.
  • I will tell you a few oral traditional stories about the sea, and read you a poem or two.
  • If the tide allows, we can look for seeweed.
  • Although, not part of the event, if you wanted to swim after the walk is over, bring whatever you need for this.

About Me:

I am a qualified Lowland Leader and a Mountain Leader trainee, and work within the guidelines of the Mountain Training Association.

I am a professional storyteller, a poet, and a mental health pharmacist (part of the time).

I have been doing my own wilderness work for the last 7 years with a Wilderness Guide and mentor. I love the outdoors and nature, I enjoying foraging and I love telling stories outdoors. I will take you on a magical experience combining nature and stories.

I am experienced in leading groups and holding space, and have an outdoor first aid certificate; insurance and an enhanced DBS check.

"It was magical! The sea and the land and the stories became one"

"We had a wonderful walk with Nana, the stories and poems were beautifully told and so appropriate for the setting. A truly magical experience."

"There is a child-like thrill at being told a story, taken to another place, while firmly rooted in the seascape, and I'm lost in the words and surroundings." - Coast Magazine

The walk needs minimum of 4 people to take place and maximum of 12.
